Seventy years ago, it was at the White Sox home opener that Cleveland's Bob Feller pitched a no-hit game leading Cleveland to a 1-0 win at old Comiskey Park.
Even though the White Sox fans saw their team lose that day, they rewarded Feller with a standing ovation since it had been 23 years since the last no-hitter at Comiskey.
This 1940 game is still the only Opening Day no-hitter to be thrown in Major League Baseball history. This was the first of three no-hitters for Bob Feller. Feller was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
The Chicago Baseball Museum is excited to have Bob Feller come to Chicago as our guest for the start of the 2010 baseball season in Chicago. Besides the special event on Tuesday, April 6th, Bob Feller will be the guest of the Chicago Baseball Museum and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush at the White Sox Home Opener on Monday, April 5th.

Dave Kingman will be signing autographs from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Dave was a 3 time All Star and finished his career with 442 career Home Runs. He played for the Giants, Mets, Cubs, Angels, Yankees, A's and Padres. Nicknamed "Kong" for his towering Home Runs, Kingman had his best season in 1979 for the Cubs when he hit 48 Home Runs and led the NL in that category. He also led the NL in Home Runs in 1982 as well.
Ron Santo will be signing autographs from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Ron is a fan favorite and was a 9 time All Star. He won 5 gold glove awards as the National League premier third baseman of his time. Don't miss your chance to meet this Chicago Legend!
We will also be conducting a private signing on or after April 18th with Cubs Hall of Famer Billy Williams. Billy was the 1972 N.L. Batting Champ and finished up his career with the Oakland A's. Expo will take place from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and include autograph sessions, seminars, locker room tours, Q&A sessions, kids interactive areas, activities on the field, authentic Bears merchandise and activities from participating vendors.
Over 40 current and alumni Chicago Bears players are scheduled to be in attendance including Pro Bowlers Julius Peppers, Jay Cutler, Robbie Gould and Brian Urlacher and alumni players from the last three Bears championship teams (1946, 1963 and 1985).
Tickets for the Expo are available at ChicagoBears.com. Tickets will also be sold on-site beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Soldier Field's ticket booths located outside of Gate 10.

Paula Faris to Host Ninth Annual Sports Ball Benefit Gala
NBC 5 Chicago sports reporter Paula Faris will host Aging Care Connections' ninth annual Sports Ball Benefit Gala to be held Friday, April 30, 2010 at 7 pm at Harry Caray's at The Westin Hotel, Lombard. Celebrity athletes representing major league teams will headline the evening of tailgate cocktails, skybox dining, auctions and dancing to the music of J.P. and the Cats. Sports Ball is Aging Care Connections' major fundraising event held to support the organization's social service programs to assist those 60 years of age and older in suburban southwest and west communities.
The event will give guests the opportunity to meet celebrity athletes who will sign autographs and answer questions about the outstanding careers they enjoyed with major league teams.

Auction items will showcase a Notre Dame package including a football autographed by alumnus and Heisman Trophy winner John Lattner who will attend Sports Ball as a celebrity athlete, two tickets to a football game in South Bend, and the opportunity to "borrow" John Lattner's Heisman trophy for two weeks; trips to Siesta Keys, Florida, Galena, and Lake Tahoe; a deluxe wine "experience" with a wide variety of premium wines, a refrigerated storage unit, a wine tasting, and appetizers; and a racing package complete with the opportunity to ride the track with an experienced driver will make for exciting bidding.
